Of all countries in the world I visited Ho duras was, in 1994, the first one to take me out of the comfort zone. With a bunch of friends I travelled from New York City to celebrate new year on a tiny palm-fringed island in the Caribbean, Landing in Honduras’ biggest city San Pedro Sula came as a shock. Dirty, crime-ridden and definitely not live at first sight, I was immediately “inselreif” – ready for an island. I assume few languages may compete with the German language’ talent to create enchanting new words by just combining two ordinary ones.
