INDIA
I am often asked which country had been, from all 197, the most exciting one? Since 1994 I travelled to India at least a dozen times, I met Hindus and Muslims, Jains and a Tiger. I crisscrossed India by train, by the classic Ambassador car and I went on foot with lots of Holy Men to India’s most auspicious spot. The answer is therefore a no-brainer to me: Incredible India! From the icy Himalayas in the North to the tropical Backwaters in the South, it offers the most diverse landscapes and the craziest parties on earth – think one million camels on a desert fair or one million gurus in the holy Ganges. You can join people who hike nonstop for a year or stand on one foot for a year – just to get their possible sins washed away. In a squalid Bombay street I met a guy who was about to starve to death and in a fancy Bombay rooftop bar I met another who was about to become IT millionaire. The food can be great or can cause great trouble. I love it and some hate it – but wehre Else can you seriously meet a veritable God, just by accidentally strolling through a tiny Rajasthani village?
