JAMAICA
On a visit from New York in 2000 my wife and I drove up from Kingston into the Blue Mountains, exchanging the tropical heat of the Caribbean with crisp mountain air. The radio was first playing Shaggy’s „Angel“, then „No Woman no cry“. Cute, Caribbean-style wooden houses were popping up at every corner, the views were amazing, I could smell jerk pork, one of my favourite, being barbecued in roadside grills, made out of huge barrels. When we arrived at Strawberry Hill, the hotel were once Bob Marley convalesced in 1976 after being shot, we had no reason to cry. At Strawberry Hill, formerly owned ny Chris Blackwell of Island Records, Reggae music and its history were everywhere. *One good thing about music“, Bob Marley once said, “when it hits you, you feel no pain.”
