KOSOVO
Kosovars are thankful people. Right in the middle of their capital Pristina, they erected a Bill-Clinton-statue. Above all thanks to the Americans the Kosovars had finally gotten their own state in 2008, as the last people of the former multi-ethnic state of Yugoslavia. While travelling around Kosovo I happened to talk to an old Kosovaran gentleman not far from Serbian-orthodox Dekan Monastery which lies like a UFO in Kosovo and was still guarded by UN peacekeepers. Now that the Kosvars’s dream of independence had been fulfilled, the old man remarked in a sad voice in German, everybody wanted to leave, calling his country a „Fehlgeburt“ (miscarriage), only viable with EU financial support. Back in Pristina I saw: At least, in summer the emigrés had come back to show off their new prosperity in knighting vehicle parades through the center of their capital. Locals gave the big-mouths posers with big cars (Mercedes of course) even a nickname: Schatzis!
