LATVIA

Latvia’s capital Riga is a wonderful city with a lot of style(s): It’s also an Art Nouveau city, not just because of the spectacular staircase in Alberta street no.12. On weekends there seems to be less style: Teenagers and other tourists in tennis socks from all over Europe, enjoying cheap beers and watching ladies sprawling around shiny poles in shady table-dance bars  parade blaring and drunken through Riga’s old town. All this may happen thanks to the numerous low-cost airlines connecting Riga to London, Berlin and the likes. If it were not Ryanair and EasyJet, I ponder in the blaring music, who else would bring Europe so easily together?
